Magazine Advertisement Design and Gif
Working Knowledge of Graphic Design Software and Digital Tools:
I designed a magazine advertisement for Amethyst Bay Resort by using a combination of Photoshop and Illustrator. I used Photoshop to improve the quality of the main images and then transferred them to Illustrator to arrange them alongside other visual elements in an engaging and impactful way. The finished project showcases my ability to apply my basic knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator to create a compelling design that aligns with the design brief. In addition, it also demonstrates how I can adapt to using advanced techniques and expand my technical skills.
Elements of Design:
My process of creating a magazine advertisement involves integrating different visual elements such as typefaces, color schemes, images, and brand logo that communicate the message and visual theme. I organized the layout on a grid to ensure that the information is structured and flows smoothly. Despite including substantial content in the design, it remains easy to read because I consistently use white space. Overall, the final result conveys a strong, coherent message that appeals to the target audience.
Creative Self-Expression and Originality:
Considering the demographics of my target audience, I opted for a layout resembling a modern website structure. However, I ensured it remained user-friendly by establishing a consistent framework for organizing the body copy. I also incorporated adequate spacing and color contrast to guide the readers’ eyes and enhance readability. Consequently, the overall format exudes visual appeal and perfectly reflects the brand’s mission.
Evidence of Thoughtful and Appropriate Critique Skills:
I’ve encountered some challenges in this course when providing feedback because we all shared the same objective and utilized a similar logo and color palette. In order to offer constructive critique, I took the time to understand their process and visualize their idea. My feedback was based on the design brief and the skills I’ve acquired throughout the course. I concentrated on offering suggestions on how to achieve their desired outcome. The feedback I received primarily centered around the perception that my design resembled a website advertisement rather than something suitable for a printed magazine. While I appreciate this perspective, I kept my original design as I intended to deviate from the traditional magazine ad layout and create a unique style.
Evidence of Following Directions:
The project was developed by applying fundamental design principles to create a visually appealing and functional magazine advertisement. I paid attention to visual elements, including photos, brand logo, body copies, and color palette, to convey the brand’s story effectively. Throughout the process, I carefully considered how white space, contrast, hierarchy, and balance would impact the audience, ensuring that the structure of all visual imagery and content catered to the audience’s needs.
Craftsmanship and Attention to Detail:
I ensured the final magazine layout incorporated all the crucial visual elements per the project guidelines. I utilized the appropriate software tools to edit and arrange all the elements, showcasing my proficiency in employing digital composition techniques. Moreover, the style is aesthetically pleasing, reflecting how I deliberately emphasized the brand’s message to influence the target audience positively. Most importantly, it underscores my ability to identify practical solutions for ensuring the final composition’s adaptability in print and digital media.
